It’s Back: Free Prescription Eyeglasses at Coastal Contacts – Today Only, First 10,000

Wednesday, May 25th, 2011

Coastal Contacts

Remember how I got an $88 pair of prescription eyeglasses at Coastal Contacts last week for $16? Well, the offer is back! Today, May 25th only, Coastal Contacts are offering a free pair of prescription eyeglasses to the first 10,000 people to register. This is for new customers only, and shipping is NOT included. Apparently, this started at 9 AM EST, but there still appear to be free coupons available. To participate, click here to become a fan of Coastal Contacts on Facebook, and you will be provided with a free coupon code. Not all frames are eligible, so be sure to click on the link they provide with the coupon to see the eligible frames.

From some of the discussion I saw on Money Saving Mom, it may actually be cheaper to order certain prescriptions through an inexpensive retailer like Zenni Optical. However, paying $16 shipping for a pair of specs at Coastal Contacts is still a great deal, so I wanted to be sure and share this with you since I don’t have to dash out the door this time! 😀

Thanks to Common Sense With Money for the heads-up!

Community Coffee

My Community Coffee order arrived on Saturday – it got here super fast. I’m drinking a cup as I write this, and I’m quite enjoying it!

Coastal Contacts

Earlier in the week, I also received an order I placed at Coastal Contacts. Money Saving Mom had posted about a special offer they ran on May 11th, where the first 10,000 people who became a fan of Coastal Contacts on Facebook would receive a free pair of prescription eyeglasses (not including shipping). I ordered these Katayama K4126 C1 Black glasses for Jai, and the coupon deducted $88 dollars from the total; I just paid the shipping & handling of $16.07. I would have posted this deal, but I had to run out the door after I placed my order and the free coupons were gone when I got back!

Coastal Contacts Receipt

I’ve previously gotten free glasses for Jai through a giveaway that I won and a review that I did for Contest Corner. I’ve also heard Zenni Optical recommended as a place to get inexpensive prescription glasses – I’ve never ordered from them, but it might be worth looking into if you need new specs.

Online Deals: Community Coffee .27 Cents Per Ounce on Amazon

Wednesday, May 18th, 2011

Community Coffee

We’ll be needing to re-stock on coffee soon, so I just ordered a three-pack of Community Coffee on Amazon for $9.95. These bags are 12 ounces each, which works out to .27 cents per ounce – the brand I was planning to buy at Safeway is .46 cents per ounce, so this was a better deal. Of course, you can get coffee cheaper than this if you buy big canisters rather than these type of “Specialty” roasts, but this type of coffee is my preferred indulgence. 🙂 Here’s how to get this deal:

1. Login to your Amazon account and click here to access their coupons page. Here you will find a coupon for $3 off any Community Coffee 12oz three-pack; if you don’t see it, keep refreshing the page to see new coupons until it pops up (I had to do this many times before it came up).

2. Click to add the coupon, and then select which coffee you want from this page. I chose Community Coffee Whole Bean Coffee, French Roast, 12-Ounce Bags (Pack of 3) because it was the least expensive at $15.23.

3. Select the “Subscribe and save” option to receive a 15% discount and free shipping. This reduced the cost of the French Roast to $12.95. The $3.00 off coupon then lowered the cost further, making my final price $9.95.

4. Cancel the subscription after your order ships, and you won’t be charged in the future. This part is important! 😀 I made a note to myself in my weekly planner to do this so that I won’t forget.

Thanks to SlickDeals.com for this deal!

Anatomy of a Frugal Christmas Card

Anatomy of a frugal Christmas card

This is the frugal Christmas card I sent out this year! The festive stamps came from my Zazzle.com order, and I won the cute return address labels in a giveaway.

Envelope

I ordered 60 custom photo cards with envelopes from SeeHere.com for $4.32. The shipping was hardly “Overnight”, but it still got here in enough time so it didn’t really matter! I was pleased with how it turned out:

Our 2010 Christmas Card

The photos came from our engagement shoot earlier in the month. I bartered for the photo session, so it cost me no money!

My Frugal Stocking Stuffers

Saturday, January 1st, 2011

Jai's stocking

This Christmas, I stuffed a stocking for Jai very frugally. It consisted of a 50-pack of disposable cups that I got through a review on Contest Corner, a little gift set I had won in a giveaway, and a 4 GB Santa Flash Drive and a Retractable Cross Over Cable which I got for $1.98 total after coupons on Mwave.com.

Stocking stuffers

Remember the Bluetooth Audio Transport that Mwave offered for free after rebate in November? Well, because I purchased it, I received a $1.00 gift coupon towards my next purchase. A few weeks later, they also sent me a $5.00 gift coupon towards anything on their site. The Santa flash drive was marked down to $4.99, so after using the $5.00 coupon I paid just .99 cents for shipping. I then used the $1.00 coupon for the Retractable Cross Over Cable, which was on sale for $1.99 with free shipping – so once again, I paid just .99 cents. Jai runs a computer repair business – and just loves gadgets in general! – so these were both things he needed.

I also gave the Bluetooth Audio Transport to Jai for Christmas, as well as the free-after-rebate LG Bluetooth Headset from NewEgg. These actually turned out to be nicer than I thought – the LG headset is wireless, making it much more convenient to use than his other bluetooth headset, and the audio transport came with some handy extras, like a universal USB charger and cool earbuds.

What frugal gifts did you give for Christmas? I’d love to hear about it in the comments!

My Latest Amazon Order: Tassimo Coffee & Lipton Cup-A-Soup

Thursday, December 30th, 2010

Tassimo Coffee Lipton Cup-a-Soup

My latest order from Amazon arrived last night: Lipton Chicken Noodle Cup-a-Soup and Gevalia Black Iced Coffee for Tassimo Coffeemakers. I received two 16-count packages of the Tassimo iced coffee, 32 pods altogether, for $5.00 – that works out to .16 cents per cup. The Lipton Cup-a-Soup was $8.33 for a pack of 12 – each box contains 4 envelopes of soup, for a total of 48 Cup-a-Soup servings. This makes the cost .17 cents per bowl of soup.

My Amazon.com Finds: Cheap Soup & Tassimo Coffee

Friday, December 24th, 2010

I know I said I was taking today off, but as I was relaxing this afternoon and browsing SlickDeals, I found out about two good deals on Amazon that I wanted to share:

Lipton Cup-a-Soup, Chicken Noodle with White Meat, 4-Count Pouches per Box (Pack of 12)

****IMPORTANT UPDATE: This soup went out of stock before I could even hit the publish button! I’m going to leave the information up here in case it comes back in stock before the coupon code expires tomorrow. The Tassimo deal is still available, however!****

Lipton Cup-a-Soup, Chicken Noodle with White Meat, 4-Count Pouches per Box (Pack of 12) is available for $8.33 after discounts. To receive this price, first select “Subscribe & Save”, then enter coupon code UNLVRHL5 at checkout. This coupon is valid through December 25th. Please note, by signing up for “Subscribe & Save” they will automatically ship you this item every few months unless you cancel – however, from what I understand it is very easy to cancel – just make a note on your calendar to cancel it so that you have no further obligation. Since there are 12 4-count boxes, you get a total of 48 servings – making the cost .17 cents per bowl of soup.

Gevalia Black Iced Coffee, 16-Count T-Discs for Tassimo Coffeemakers (Pack of 2)

Gevalia Black Iced Coffee, 16-Count T-Discs for Tassimo Coffeemakers (Pack of 2) is available for $5.00 after entering coupon code TDISC555. Shipping is free if you sign up for Amazon Student or Amazon Momclick here for more info on Prime, courtesy Money Saving Mom. One coupon per person – and if you’d prefer tea, you can get Twinings Earl Grey Tea, 16-Count T-Discs for Tassimo Coffeemakers (Pack of 2) for $5 with the coupon code instead!

The reason that I jumped on this deal is because I actually just received a Tassimo Coffeemaker this week for review on Contest Corner. These machines brew coffee one cup at a time using special pods, and one 16-count package of this coffee normally retails for $8.99 on their website. Since this is a two-pack with a total of 32 servings, this averages out to .16 cents per serving – a very frugal way to stock up on this special coffee!

Enjoy your Christmas Eve, everyone!

If you register for their site and sign up for their daily email list before December 31st, they will add a $5 credit to your account that you can use to purchase a coupon of your choice with.
