Leavin’ On A Jet Plane

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

Jai and I are leaving for England tomorrow! We’ll be catching a flight out of Portland, which happens to have an 8-hour layover in Amsterdam, so we’ll have time to leave the airport and have a look around the city. Then we’ll hop back on a plane and head to Manchester! From there we’ll travel to my dad’s house in Birkenhead, and then we’ll head down south to a resort in Bognor Regis – I’m going there on assignment for Fuel My Blog, and you can click here if you want to read more about that. It’s a packed itinerary, and it’s going to be a blast!

But my blog won’t be collecting dust while I’m away – I’ve lined up a great batch of guest posts to run while I’m gone! There’s a wide variety of topics that will be covered, and I think you’ll enjoy the creatively frugal insights my guest posters have to share. There’s even going to be a special giveaway while I’m gone!

I will be also posting updates and pictures on my Twitter page while I’m away, so you can always check that out if you’re curious to see what we’re up to!

Shopping Trip – April 26th

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

Total spent: .67 cents out of pocket, put $9.32 on my rebate gift card
View receipt

Got:

1 bottle of Roc moisturizer

I always wear moisturizer that contains SPF, and I was all out. So I used my gift card to get a new bottle – I picked this one because it was 3 ounces, so I’ll be able to take it in my carry-on baggage when we leave for England tomorrow!

Free Vodka

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

This proves that you can get almost anything free with coupons and rebates! Click here to download a rebate form for 360 Vodka. You can get up to a $20 rebate, and according to Nickels-N-Dimes, this vodka is on sale for $19.99 at some Walgreens. Now, I have no idea what states allow Walgreens to sell liquor – Oregon certainly isn’t one of them – but if you live in an area that does, you’re in luck!
I think this rebate would be worth printing even if you can’t get it at Walgreens – the offer is good through December of this year, and I’m sure somewhere will have it for $20. I’m not a big vodka drinker (the last bottle of Vodka I had sat in the cupboard collecting dust for about 3 years) but free is free!

Free Chocolate For Californians

Saturday, April 25th, 2009

Fling chocolate is offering a coupon for a free chocolate bar. There’s a problem with the URL that won’t allow me to make it a clickable link, but you can access the website by copying and pasting the following URL into your address bar:

http://startsampling.com/sm/100728/captureAddress.iphtml?item=100728&source=

Because of the weirdness with the link, I waited until my coupon arrived to share this with you – and it does come.
The coupon offer is open to residents of California, Oregon, and Washington, but after I signed up, I read that Fling is only sold in California retail stores.

Thanks to Hip2Save for the tip!

Bits & Pieces

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

  • As you can tell, I haven’t done much shopping this month. With so much going on and our trip coming up in a week and a half, I’ve been like the lady in that photo – making my list and checking it twice. Trying to cram in grocery trips as well just hasn’t been appealing, so I’ve just been making use of what I have in my pantry and freezer. Plus, I’ll be gone for two weeks, and I want to use up any perishable ingredients so that they won’t go to waste.
  • I’ve gotten some great articles lined up to run while I’m away, and I still have space for more submissions – so if you want to share your frugal thoughts and be a guest poster here on SCG, email me!
  • I haven’t had a chance to post a new Coupon Funded Menu Corner in a while, so if you’ve been missing it, check out this post on my other blog. I was sent a dinner kit to prepare and review, and this is the article I wrote about it, complete with photos. The post also includes a giveaway for a gift basket containing lots of goodies and coupons for free products. (And I know you all love free coupons!)

Have you guys snagged any good deals lately? I know there’s been all kinds of sales at Safeway. Or maybe you’ve been eating out of your stockpile, too? Leave me a comment and let me know!

Free Evol Burrito

Sunday, April 19th, 2009

There’s all kinds of free coupons appearing this week, I love it! The first 50,000 people who register with Evol Burritos will receive a coupon good for complimentary burrito when the brand launches this fall. Thank you Hip2Save and Money Saving Mom!

Reynolds Wrap Foil – Try Me Free Rebate

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

On April 22nd, Reynolds Wrap will be offering a “Try Me Free” rebate form on their website, good for a complimentary roll of 100% recycled Reynolds Wrap. You can either mark your calendars, or click here to sign up for a reminder email on the website. Quantities will be limited, but if you manage to snag one it would be a pretty good savings. I’m always in need of foil, so getting a roll for the cost of a stamp seems like an OK price for me.

Countdown to free foil:

Thank you to Common Sense With Money for the link! She has other fun Earth Day deals listed here.
