**** This giveaway is now closed.****
I have a fun giveaway to share with you today! Through midnight tonight, Purina is running a fundraising campaign for breast cancer awareness called Cat Nap for the Cause. For every Facebook fan who pledges to take a “Cat nap”, Purina will donate $2 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. To help spread the word about this campaign, Purina have offered to give one lucky Super Coupon Girl a coupon for a free 7 lb. bag of Purina Cat Chow!
About Cat Nap for the Cause:
Cat Nap for the Cause invites breast cancer awareness supporters to take a 20-minute cat nap to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure this October. For each “cat napper” that signs up on their Facebook page, Purina Cat Chow will donate $2 up to $150,000 – on top of their 2010 donation of $200,000! All donations go directly to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Inspired by cancer survivors’ stories of the role their cats played during their battle with cancer, Purina Cat Chow first began a relationship with Susan G. Komen to honor the unique bond between cat owners and their cats. In fact, a recent Purina Cat Chow national survey of breast cancer survivors with cats showed that more than 84 percent of respondents felt their cat had a calming effect during their battle with breast cancer and nearly seven out of 10 said their cats were a source of comfort when battling the disease.
Actress Kate Walsh has teamed up with Purina Cat Chow as spokesperson for Cat Nap for the Cause! Kate Walsh is not only a breast cancer awareness supporter – her mother is a more than 10-year breast cancer survivor. Kate along with other celebrity supporters will donate personalized blankets, perfect for a cat nap, to raise awareness for the campaign. You can also register for a chance to win a celebrity Cat Nap for the Cause blanket at www.Facebook.com/PurinaCatChow.

I hope everyone had a happy Halloween yesterday! Jai and I spent the afternoon at The Pumpkin Patch in Sauvie Island. Not only do they have a pumpkin patch, but free hayrides, a corn maze, an animal barn, and more. The photo above is me wearing my Pink Power Ranger costume, getting ready to pick the perfect pumpkin!
The pumpkins were a great price – the ones we chose were only $1.00 each. The Pumpkin Patch also offers a produce market, which had a wide variety of lovely fresh produce grown at their farm. The prices were good, and since my fridge was still bare, this was the perfect time to re-stock!
Total spent: $10.15
View receipt (We paid for the pumpkins separately in the pumpkin patch, and did not get a receipt for that.)
Got:
2 pumpkins – $1.00 each, final cost: $2.00
2.97 lbs of apples – .89 per pound, final cost: $2.64
1 head of green onions – price: .50 cents
.54 lbs of red onion – .99 cents per pound, final cost: .55 cents
1 head of red leaf lettuce – price: .99 cents
6 ears of corn – I used this coupon from their website to get these 6 ears of corn for $1.00.
1 large stalk of Brussels sprouts – I’ve never seen them sold this way before! Price: $2.49
We had a very fun day – and stocking up on produce was a nice bonus!
My finished pumpkin!
How did you spend your Halloween, readers?

There hasn’t been much to report recently, because I haven’t been doing much shopping or cooking. I’ve had a cold for a week and half, and my doctor also started me on a new medication for my knee pain and swelling; the combination of the two things has been exhausting and pretty much killed my appetite. We’ve picked up one or two things from the store, like milk, but no “Real” shopping trips or coupon adventures to speak of. I’ve just been picking away at the food in our pantry, and going through the drive-thru to pick up a McFlurry or two – I don’t know what it is, but when I feel sick, ice cream always makes me feel better. It’s like I’m lactose super-tolerant or something!
I thought I would need to go to the store yesterday, because our fridge was looking so bare. But then this package arrived from FedEx:
I’m going to be writing a product review for El Monterey over on Contest Corner, so they sent me a huge box full of frozen entrées! Free meals, and the only cooking I have to do is press a button on the microwave – I’m pretty sure I could hear angels singing when I opened that box. 😉
Once I start feeling better, I’m looking forward to getting back into my normal routine. So in the meantime, let me live vicariously through you: Tell me in the comments what deals you’ve scored lately!

Can you believe it’s almost Halloween already? Summer whizzed right by, as it always seems to. Now it’s time to start thinking ahead to the holiday season; and what better way to get a frugal headstart on your festive preparations than to win free greeting cards? CardsDirect have offered to give one lucky Super Coupon Girl reader a $50 coupon code, which can be redeemed towards the greeting cards of your choice. CardsDirect offer everything from Holiday Cards and Christmas Cards to customizable Photo Cards and even Baby Announcements – so the winner will be able to stock up on whatever type of cards they need!
CardsDirect also sent me my own $50 gift code, and I had fun looking through their cards and deciding what to get. I considered getting a custom photo calendar card, and toyed with an idea for the design. I found the process of adding a photo to be a little confusing, but I didn’t spend much time on it because I soon spotted a section for value assortment packs! I decided to use my code on this Assorted Economy Birthday Cards pack, containing 40 birthday cards. This card pack sells for $36.00 with $5.00 shipping, so my total was zero after the code. This will be a great addition to my card box! I love to send greeting cards for every occasion, so it saves money and time to have a supply already on hand. Between this and the cards that paid for my groceries, I will be stocked up for some time!
And one Super Coupon Girl reader will win a $50 Cards Direct gift code of their own! You can use this to get a value pack, like I did, or make 25 custom cards. Here’s how to enter:
1. For your first entry, just leave a comment and tell me what kind of cards you might like to get! Birthday, Christmas, invitations, or something else?
Want extra entries? Do any of the following, and leave a separate comment for each one:
2. Link to this post on your blog, then come back here and leave me the link!
3. Write about this on Twitter, then come back and leave me the link to your tweet! One Twitter entry per person. You can use the button at the bottom of this post to tweet with one click!
4. Post my button on your website – just copy and paste the following code, and let me know where you put it:
Rules, regulations, and other important stuff: Giveaway ends on October 28th at 11:59 PM, PST. Winner will be chosen the following day via Random.org. Giveaway is open to US residents.

On our way home from Seattle last week, we stopped by a Wal-Mart that was near a friend’s house. I had a Wal-Mart gift card, and since there are none in our area, this was the perfect time for a little “Coupon Road Trip”!
Remember the Delicious Moments contest that all of you helped me win last year? As you may recall, my original motivation for entering the contest was that they were offering a Wal-Mart gift card and free coupons to the first 75 people to enter. Little did I know that I would get so much more! Once again, coupons led to great things in my life. Well, I still had the $10 gift card that I received through the contest, so this was the perfect time to use it!
Total spent: Put $10 on my Wal-Mart gift card, spent .30 cents out of pocket
View receipt
Got:
2 quarts of half & half – price: $1.68 each, final total for both: $3.36
1 lb of brown rice – price: .76 cents
2 lbs of white rice – price: $1.28
12-pack of Ramen noodles – price: $1.82
1 gallon of milk – price: $3.08
I knew we were out of milk and half & half, since I used it up before we went out of town, so this was a a great opportunity to restock on the way home. $3.08 is much more expensive than the milk prices in Oregon, but since we needed it and it cost me nothing out of pocket, I was OK with that. I had originally planned to pick up some produce with the remainder of the gift card, but since this wasn’t a Super Wal-Mart, they didn’t carry fresh items; so I stocked up on dry goods instead. We were out of rice, so I was happy to pick up two more bags. I was also starting to come down with a cold, so I bought the Ramen because it’s an easy comfort food.
