Planning a Frugal Wedding

Jai and I are participating in “The Love Story” online reality show, hosted by The Engagement Club. I wanted to share this week’s video with you, where I talk about my hints & tips for frugal wedding planning and show examples of how I’m saving on wedding supplies by utilizing freebies and entering contests. Click here to watch part one of “Planning a Frugal Wedding”! Part two is coming next week, so stay tuned!

Also, we will be featured along with The Love Story in this month’s InStyle Magazine, which hits newsstands November 19th – so keep your eyes peeled for that!

    Congrats!

I was stopping back because on a giveaway I told you about some free stuff on my site, and didn’t leave the second link (can’t leave another post there because I’d be entering twice).

So, here’s the free printables I talked about:

I’ve been married 10 years and we did a very frugal wedding. Here’s my best tip: I got cheap tall cylindrical vases at Walmarts and floating candles at the Dollar Store and put a floating candle in each one. It was a cheap and elegant centerpiece for our reception!

But I stumbled on something else recently. There are a lot of gorgeous wedding dresses on Etsy that look just as nice as what you find in wedding shops and seemed really inexpensive to me. I got my wedding dress for $500 used and most of these were under $300. Really beautiful dresses too! Not all the quirky stuff you might expect on Etsy. A lot had free shipping too.

    Thought I’d pass that along.

Penelope: Yes, it’s going to be in this month’s issue! When it comes out I’ll let you know so you can check it out. 🙂

Gale: Thank you for the links to the free printables and the great frugal tips! I agree, I have seen some awesome wedding stuff at the dollar store. I am definitely going to check out Etsy – thanks for mentioning that, it never would have occurred to me! I’ve also seen lots of gorgeous dresses on eBay that are very inexpensive also – some are vintage and some are runway pieces that have been worn once for fashion shows and as a result are sold at a BIG discount.
