Cyber Monday

December 1st, 2008

So do any of you have big plans for online shopping today? I’m going to be checking the deals throughout the day, but I haven’t yet seen any amazing sales on the kind of things I would buy. If you’re going to be cyber-bargain hunting today, I recommend checking out SlickDeals and My Shopping Addiction – these are my two favorite sites for online deals.

Shopping Trip – November 21st – I almost forgot about this one!

December 1st, 2008

Total spent: $2.21
Total before coupons: $6.81
View receipt

Got:

1 trial sized packet of Airborne – on sale for $2.19, used one $2/1 coupon from the 9/7 Smart Source newspaper inserts, making it free plus .31 cents of overage after doubles.
1 bag of Fresh Gourmet crispy onion salad toppings – on sale for $1.50, used a .55/1 printable – bringing the final cost down to .45 cents after doubles.
.31 pounds of green beans – free plus .12 cents of overage after using a peelie coupon found on the Fresh Gourmet – more details on this below.
1 head of red leaf lettuce
1 head of garlic

I just needed a few salad supplies for dinner, and I found a bonus deal on the green beans while I was there. I love the crispy onions on salad – they’re sooo yummy! And even better, there was a peelie coupon attached to the bag that said, “Save .55 cents on fresh green beans with your purchase of Fresh Gourmet salad toppings”. So I weighed out a small amount of green beans, which came to .93 cents. The coupon doubled, so I ended up getting them for free plus .12 cents of overage! What a deal! Keep an eye out for these peelie coupons if you see Fresh Gourmet products at your store.

SCG Got A Stamp Of Approval!

November 30th, 2008

My readers are so sweet! Nancy at Raging Bear Ranch and Michelle at Saving Some Green both nominated me for the “I Love Your Blog” award! How cool is that? Nancy also gave me her very own blog award, the RBR Stamp of Approval:

Thank you both so much! In return, I am passing this on to all of Super Coupon Girl’s Allies on my blogroll. I often update it with new links, so be sure to check out some of the recent additions!

Happy Holidays!

November 30th, 2008

I hope all my US readers are enjoying the holiday weekend. I’ve been busy with guests, gatherings, and food for most of the week, so now I’m playing a bit of catch-up with emails and comments. Enjoy your turkey sandwiches in the meantime!

Black Friday

November 25th, 2008

Do any of you have big shopping plans for Black Friday? I was excited to see what kind of bargains I might be able to snag, but it seems pretty thin on the ground in my area. I’ve been looking at ad previews for the past few weeks, courtesy of sites like Hot Coupon World and The Official Black Friday Website, and so far I haven’t seen any sales that would be worth camping out all night for. At this point, I’m more interested to see what online sales pop up, both on Black Friday and “Cyber Monday”, which is the Monday following Thanksgiving.

Giveaway: Wicked Coffee Mug!

November 24th, 2008

Last month, I won an awesome giveaway over at Our Name Is Blog. There was a fun twist to this giveaway, because there were two prizes: one for me to keep, and one for me to give away on my own blog!
So what is the fabulous prize up for grabs? This hand painted Wicked coffee mug!

I also took some more detailed photos of the front and back, but the lighting is terrible in them.
This mug is just so cute! It’s sturdy, and a nice generous size – I don’t know about you, but I love a big mug of coffee in the morning. A tiny teacup just won’t do! If you feel the same, then this is the cup for you!
If you like this mug, be sure to check out Our Name Is Mud for more cute designs!

Here’s how to enter: Just leave a comment on this post, and you’ll be entered to win!

To earn an extra entry: If you’d like to gain a second entry into the contest, just put up a link to my blog and leave a separate comment letting me know that you did. You can either link to this contest, or any other post that you liked. If you already have me in your blogroll – thank you, and be sure to leave a second comment mentioning it to improve your odds!

Fine print, rules, etc: This giveaway is only open to US residents, because I unfortunately can’t afford to ship this package overseas. (APO/FPO addresses are OK, because the rates are the same as domestic.)

This contest will be open until 11:59 PM, December 7th. A winner will be chosen on December 8th via Random.org and notified. Please be sure to leave your email address, either in your post or in your blogger profile, so that I can get in touch if you win!! I’d hate to see anyone else forfeit their prize because I can’t get a hold of them! Email address will be used only to notify winner. If, for some bizarre reason, the winner does not respond after 4 days, a new winner will be chosen.

Shopping Trip – November 20th

November 23rd, 2008

Total spent: $4.99 – but I will get that back in a rebate, making it free. Plus, I got a $7 Register Reward for purchasing it!
Total before coupons: $6.99

View receipt

Got:

1 box of Just For Men haircolor

I used a $2/1 printable to bring the price down, and I will also mail in this “Try Me Free” rebate form . The form just says “Get an $8 refund”, but I don’t know if they’ll send me $8 or the $4.99 that I paid for it. Either way, it’s free, with possible profit. I definitely don’t need any Just For Men, but I can always use a $7 Register Reward, and I figured that was a pretty good deal for the .42 cent stamp it will cost me to mail the rebate in.
If anyone has any suggestions as to where I can donate this product, I’m all ears!

Then I went through the line again to spend my Register Reward:

Total spent: .48 cents
Total before coupons: $8.86

View receipt

Got:

1 pound of butter
1 gallon of milk – I checked the expiration date very carefully!
1 can of mushrooms
1 can of mandarin oranges – the canned items were two for $1 with a coupon from the Walgreens sales flier.

Then I made a quick stop at Fred Meyer:

Total spent: $6.18. This was the full price, as I didn’t have any coupons for these items.
View receipt

Got:

1 package of first aid gauze
1 roll of first aid tape

I had just gotten through with an appointment at the podiatrist, because of a toe problem. She advised that I bandage it up in a certain way after she treated it, and I didn’t have any first aid coupons, so I had to pay full price. I had gotten my fill of hobbling through the stores at this point, and I just wanted to get the items and get out of there.
